Is 2019 the year to sell?
It has been a wild ride in real estate over the last year few years....the long recovery from the big bust of 2008 and low interest rates served to drive the market (some say into overdrive) really putting sellers into the drivers seat.
The last few months however, have seen the market slow. Interest rates, while still historically low, have risen and the lack of inventory has made buyers slower to move off the fence. This has led many market analysts to suggest that while not as white hot as previous years, 2019 may be your best chance to sell in this economic cycle.
According to US News & World Report, "In a survey of 100 U.S. real estate experts and economists by real estate information company Zillow, released in May, almost half expect the next recession to occur in 2020. Another 14 percent believe the recession will hold out until 2021, while 24 percent of panelists expect the recession earlier – sometime in 2019." The overwhelming majority see the correction within the next two years.
This is not all bad news. If you are in a house you love or recently purchased, no worries. This is period that will have little relevance to you. It also comes as great news to buyers, as it shifts the market and gives buyers an advantage, something they haven't had in some time.
If you are considering selling within the next 5 years, then 2019 is your time. The spring season is almost upon us and I would love to take the opportunity to sit down with you, discuss your options and come up with a plan. Give me a call and lets see what we can do.
